Introduction

Welcome!

Greetings, and welcome to Ariath, the world of Crossover. Crossover is a Live Action Roleplaying Game produced by Black Crayon Games, and run with the Accelerant rules system. These pages contain background information for the world of Ariath, and rules for creating a character to play the game.

Ethical Concerns

The fantasy world of Ariath is a bit more morally polarized than our Earth is. Active gods perform miracles and hold the world together, dark and light spirits influence its inhabitants, and the morally bankrupt might find that their wickedness takes a true toll on their spirits.

Ariath holds a wide variety of people, good, evil, and morally grey. That said, the players of Crossover are intended to be a cut above normal Folk. They are heroes, and have the potential to be larger than life, and will be in a position to have a strong impact on Ariath’s future. The campaign will be the story of their attempts to do what’s right.

Now, this is not to say that staff will force anyone to create a “good” character, or control anyone’s actions. It does mean that staff’s efforts will do toward writing a story framework in which people can be heroic. Anyone not willing to work for the good of the Folk, or at least go along for the ride with those who are, might not enjoy the game very much. We make no apologies for this, and are doing it quite intentionally. It’s difficult enough to create an engaging world and series of storylines for heroes, without trying to accommodate villains as well. People who want to fight other players, or enjoy sabotaging the efforts of the majority, might find a different game more to their liking. If any player character becomes Wicked or is caught acting against the players as a whole, staff will not mitigate the consequences, and they should not expect to be able to continue playing as that character.

Fun and Sportsmanship

The purpose of this game is for the participants to have fun, including not only the players, but staff as well. This may not always be realistic, but it’s what we’re aiming for. Crossover staff will attempt to accomplish this by telling an engaging, entertaining story that the players can participate in and influence. This story and its fun value are the most important part of the game.

It is the responsibility of all people involved in the game, staff and players alike, to make a reasonable effort to see that other people are able to enjoy themselves. If you are staffing an event, please remember that you are there to entertain the players. If you are playing, please keep in mind that the staff are volunteering their services to make the event possible and fun for you, and give them due consideration for this. Participants who consistently cause problems or friction to the detriment of other people’s fun, or deliberately push boundaries or cause problems, may be asked to leave, whether they are breaking the letter of the rules or not.

If you're having any issues that detract from your enjoyment of the game, please let us know. You can contact us either directly during play, between events in your PEL, or by emailing the director.

Harassment Policy

Our staff is dedicated to making Crossover a safe, harassment-free experience for all of our participants, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or any other factor. Harassment includes (but is not limited to) offensive verbal comments, display of explicit images, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

We do not tolerate harassment in any form. Game participants violating these rules may be given formal warnings, expelled from an event without refund, or banned from the campaign entirely, at the discretion of staff.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a staff member. If you have concerns between game events, you may raise them in your post event letter, or contact the game owner directly using the contact information on our website. Your safety, privacy, and comfort while at our events are of utmost importance to us.
