Faithful of Life

"All life is connected.

"I know you've heard it before, child, but it bears repeating. So many people, when they think of Vivia's works, think of themselves, their friends, maybe even all Folk, but that's where they stop. Such a small view, but it's easy to think that way.

"Especially for you city dwellers, it's easy to forget how much more there is. The birds and beasts of the field, grasses and trees, fish and algae and fungi. They all have their role in the great cycle. We Folk are different in some ways from other life, but never think we're more important. We're just part of a whole.

"Vivia doesn't take sides, child. You may want to protect the rabbit, but the wolf needs to eat. We may mourn each life's passing, but we honor its sacrifice and its place in the cycle. Each life is meaningful no matter how it ends, and as the wheel turns, maybe it will have life once more.

"If it weren't for the cycle, and our goddess who maintains it, Ariath would be a hunk of rock with weather. Our job is to nudge the cycle when it slips, and keep that from happening."

Faithful of Life Skills:

Free Wild’s Touch 0 CP

You gain “Thorns” and "Poison” as attack traits, and “Life” and “Nature” as flavor traits.

Blessed Crops 1 CP (Once per event)

When you use the Agriculture skill to gain resources at game start, you get one additional random pick. If you do not have the Agriculture skill, you may give this additional pick to an ally who does. A character may only benefit from Blessed Crops once per event.

Blessing of Vigor 2 CP (Once per event)

Once per event, you may focus for three seconds and call out “Purge” to end any Drain effects. You may also expend this skill to touch an ally and call “Cure Drain by [Flavor Trait.]”

Blood Like Sap 2 CP

While in an area where there are trees between you and any visible buildings, or while you are within arm’s reach of a tree, your time to bleed out is increased to two minutes.

Equipment Method 2 CP

You use potions, powders, venoms, and other natural craft supplies to perform your powers. You should carry appropriate props, and roleplay as though you are using them to perform touch delivered effects. To use packet delivered powers, touch a packet to one of your tools, such as a vial or medicine bag, before performing the effect call and throwing.

Live off the Land 1 CP

You are skilled at locating enough food and drink to sustain yourself. You do not need to pay maintenance at the start of each event.

Incantation Method 3 CP

Your powers are magic spells granted to you by divine power. To use Powers, you must perform a audible incantation of at least six syllables before you begin the verbal call.

In addition, this skill gives you access to one Power List, chosen from the Open, Offensive, or Support lists. Even if you know another Method, you must always use incantations for Powers from this list.

Lore of the Wild 3 CP

You gain access to powers from the “Vital” power list, and may use casting skills to perform them. (See the section on power lists.)

Nature’s Tools 2 CP

You may use powers with a natural weapon, a one-handed wooden club, or a wooden buckler in your off hand. You may also touch cast beneficial powers with a bow or other wooden missile prop in your off hand. Blocking attacks will cause spell interruption as though you had been struck.

Vivia’s Touch 2 CP (Once per battle)

(Requires 3 skills in this theme.)

Gain two uses of “Heal 2 by [flavor trait.]” If you have the skill Aura of Healing, this instead adds two uses to your Aura of Healing pool.

Berserk Fury 5 CP

(Requires 3 skills in this theme.)

Each time you are struck by an attack with a called or uncalled Damage effect you gain one melee attack for “2 damage by (attack trait.)” Although you can never have more than one attack active at any time, as soon as you deliver that attack you are eligible to gain another attack as an attack strikes you. This ability is always active and has no cost.

Resurgence 4 (Once per event)

(Requires 5 skills in this theme.)

Once per event you may touch yourself or an ally and call “Refresh Cure Death by Life” to refresh one use of an ability with the Cure Death effect.

Abundance [Epic]

Requires: Live off the Land

Your expert knowledge of where to find food means that you are always Well Fed at the beginning of every event. You start each event with one additional Vitality, and five additional Endurance. These benefits do not stack with other Well Fed bonuses, but do stack with Grants.

Enduring Health [Epic]

You are immune to Stricken effects, and must call "No effect" if struck by one. In addition, twice per battle when you are receive a Stabilize effect you may call "Heal 1 to Self."

Both of these abilities function regardless of whether you are conscious, unconscious, dead, or otherwise unable to use game skills.
