Dear Parents of Room 25 2015-2016,
The class lists were posted a few days ago. I know that Toni, Carol, and Colleen worked very hard on creating the groups and had many factors to balance. Although all the 8th grader kids will spend time with each of the 3 teachers, it is important that our homeroom group creates a positive and productive dynamic with each other as well as a respectful and resilient relationship with me. I do know quite a few of you and am eager to get to know you and your kids better as we journey through the amazing landscapes of 8th grade together.
First order of business is for me to find a date or two for the class and I to get together to chat and play a bit before school starts. To facilitate that process I have created a spreadsheet that shows the days that I have available this summer. Please have your kid have to log into their mydiscoveryk8.org accounts to be able to view and edit it. The quick link is http://tinyurl.com/room25summer15. Have them put (just) "yes" or "no" in their row, indicating whether or not they will be available for an afternoon/evening gathering of some kind, but not making any other changes to the spreadsheet formulas or format -- their first test in following-directions. :)
I'll be writing to you again in a few weeks with some details about our year together and to elicit insights from you about how to best work with your student.
