Coupla Things v30 (4/27/15)

Happy Monday Everyone.

I've never written one of these on a Monday morning before and I hope not to continue the trend.

This will be quick:

Science: Its been all about waves lately. The kids have been making their way through chapter 20 in the book and during class they've used Slinkies and ropes to demonstrate various types of waves as well as understanding the terms associated with their various properties (wavelength, amplitude, frequency). There is a test on Wednesday and then we'll be getting into sound and light.

English: The "oops" essay is done and I'm eager to read through them. For vocab last week they had the assignment to go to a social media website and find a comment that interests them and give it a "vocabulary upgrade". I haven't read those yet, but I am confident that they will be quite entertaining.

History: Another transition is happening here as well. We are done with the Constitution teaching-learning sessions and have finished the Constitution USA series. The next topic will be the Civil War. I want to focus more on the causes and social issues rather than the battles, but much of that will be up to the kids. After that, well spend some time on the reconstruction period and westward expansion.

Levi Stadium: Tomorrow's trip will be a good one. Here are some reminders:

1. Kids and drivers have to be at school by 8:30 because we need to be on the road as quick as possible after the 8:40 bell

2. Lunches should be disposable and bring water

3. Wear walking shoes

4. Be sure that you've turned in the release form; they won't let anyone in without it.
