Dear Room 25 Families.
Happy Sunday Everyone!
I'll be heading to the airport in 12 hours eager to spend a pool day with the 8th graders on Monday. During this week I helped 30 teachers learn about Google docs, sites, forms, video, and a whole bunch of other useful tech tools. The most powerful parts came when I could show them samples from this class and explain the processes and purpose. Needless to say, they were impressed, but the most common comment was "you must have a great class community to get that much work done and support your plans and each other's learning". Oh, how true that is.
Usually this is where I would recap the week's events and accomplishments BUT since I wasn't there, I'd like to flip roles with the kids and possibly you parents. Please drop me a quick note and let me know what y'all did each day and how it went. I will appreciate your reply and synopsis very much (Reina and Grace and Justing already sent a quick reply to a previous email).
The academic part of the school year is done. Whew. The breadth and depth of the curriculum we've covered is impressive and I am equally hopeful and confident that the kids learned many new things. My goal has been to have the kids work hard, learn lots, enjoy most. What is most important, though, is that this group brings their heart and soul with them to high school, along with a contagious passion for learning and an unstinting willingness to cause the good in the world! No one is better equipped to do that, than this group. I'm sure that we'll hear (and see) a lot more about that at the graduation ceremony on Wednesday evening.
