Hello Room 25 Parents,
Science Fair: There were some great projects on display around middle school alley on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, hosted by some very knowledgeable and enthusiastic presenters, but none of them were from our class and only a few from our grade level. For us, the process and products for this year ranged from mediocre at best to dismal at worst and even non-existent for some. From the groans of "do we have to?" at the start to the very weak display boards and explanations at the end, this was just a terrible showing. The object dissections of electronics and appliances were little more than a hack-in-up-and-spread-out-the-parts endeavors, and the how-it-works demonstrations weren't strong either. Low enthusiasm, low goals, low learning, and lowered heads -- mine included.
Conferences: This coming week the kids will host their final conferences at DCS. I'll be present but I'm going to try to maintain a low profile, encouraging each kid to create and implement the agenda and take a leadership role during the meeting. Please sign up on this chart.
