Be sure to watch/review sound spelling card and high frequency word instruction before you start your reading lesson for the day!
- Watch & Learn: Watch the sound-by-sound blending teacher video below. Use this phonics routine to decode any words you don't know when reading Dad Got a Job.
- Practice: Students, read Dad Got a Job aloud to a parent, sibling or caregiver. Utilize sound by sound blending to decode any unknown words. Also, review high frequency words as you come upon them throughout the story. Perform a second read of the story at some point during the day. It can be to your sibling, friend, or a stuffed animal!
- May Do: View letter/sound associations with Jack Hartman, Qq sound sorting practice page below. Work on Lexia for 10-15 minutes. Teachers will be reviewing students' progress. We are excited to print out each student’s certificate when they return so that we can celebrate their success together as a class!

- Watch & Learn: Listen to the read aloud book below to review opinion writing. Refer back to the questions you answered yesterday (listed below the writing paper for reference). Choose one of these questions, and YOUR answer (opinion!) to write about.
- Practice: Write an opinion story about the question/answer you selected from Tuesday. Write 2 sentences (using capitals, spaces, and punctuation) and illustrate your writing. (Example, “I think apples are better than bananas. Bananas are mushy and I do not like them.”) Remember to tell why you chose your answer.
