Scripture: Colossians 3:17
Prayer: Thank you, God, for caring about the little details of my life. Thank you for the dreams in my heart, and please help me to be like Jesus.
100 Illustrated Devotions for Children by Rick Warren
1. Watch and Learn: Dictation Routine: Your child will need a pencil and paper or maker and marker board. Have your child watch the video, sound out the words, and practice writing the words in the video.
2. Practice: Revisit our Decodable Text for this week: Jake and Dale Help! Read it through twice - to a grown up, a sibling, or even a stuffed animal. Remember, revisiting texts you have already read helps to build fluency in your reading!
3. May Do: Choose one or two of the leveled readers to practice with below. These get harder with each book, so try the first two, and then the last one is the most advanced if you would like to give it a whirl! Reading text multiple times helps with fluency (the ability to read smoothly and automatically).
Reveiw our comprehension strategies and skills for the week before listening to The Clean Up.
Watch & Learn: The story for today is The Clean Up. Click on the video and watch/listen for enjoyment.
Practice: Ask and answer questions with Mrs. Green as she shares the story. Be listening for the sequence of events. When the story is over tell your At-Home learning helper what happened at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end!
May Do: The characters in the story have a chores chart to help them get their work done. Do you have one of these at home? If not, brainstorm a few jobs you and your family members could do and put them on a chart like the one the family uses in the story!
1. Watch & Learn: Students will watch Mrs. McCool's graphing lesson to review our math concept.
2. Practice: Print and complete the two pages of the graphing activity below. Have your student pick five different color crayons (only five colors), count each kind of fruit, and graph the number of fruit in the correct column below. For example, if there is only one pear, color one rectangle above the pear! After your student has completed the graph, answer the questions on the second worksheet. Send both the fruit graph and the question sheet to your child's teacher!
3. May do:
See directions above!
Practice your subtraction and addition skills. The worksheet includes a special guest: Puzzled Penguin!!
1. Listen and Learn:- Listen to the read aloud book When I Grow Up. Think about what you would like to be when you grow up. Why do you want to do that job?
2. Practice: - Write a story about what you want to be when you grow up. Write 2-3 sentences and tell why you would want to do that job. Remember your mechanics and check for capitals, spaces, and punctuation. Put a lot of details in your illustration and use lots of color!
3. Share: Save this writing page to share with your teacher and classmates. Next week we will use them during our Happy Half Hour time and share with our friends.
Supplies: paper plate, paint/markers, scissors, and glue.
Cut small slits into the parameter of paper plates. Go back through and cut another slit so that the slits connect and you cut out a small piece. Paint or color the paper plate and create a green stem out of paper or popsicle sticks!
