Must Do: Review

1. Watch and Learn: Dictation Routine: Your child will need a pencil and paper or maker and marker board. Have your child watch the video, sound out the words, and practice writing the words in the video. Please take a picture and save their dictation work to turn in to your teacher this week. Remember to "do it nice, or do it twice!"

2. Practice: Revisit our Decodable Text for this week: Pack a Bag. Read it through twice - to a grown up, a sibling, or even a stuffed animal. Remember, revisiting texts you have already read helps to build fluency in your reading!

3. May Do: Choose one or two of the leveled readers to practice with below. These get harder with each book, so try the first two, and then the last one is the most advanced if you would like to give it a whirl! Reading text multiple times helps with fluency (the ability to read smoothly and automatically).

Big Book Story Read Aloud

Must Do: Review Comprehension Strategy and Skill Instruction

Review our comprehension strategies and skills for the week before listening to See Our Country - an informational text about real places we can go and visit in the United States.

1. Watch & Learn: The story for today is See Our Country. Click on the video and watch/listen for enjoyment.

2. Practice: Students, be sure to listen and see if you can tell a grown up what the main idea of this book is! Remember - the main idea is 1-2 sentences that tell the most important things the author wants you to know!

3. May Do: Open the pdf below by clicking the pop-out in the upper right hand corner of the American symbols sort.

Math

1. Watch & Learn: Students will watch Mrs. McCool's mini-lesson on subtraction to review different subtraction strategies.

2. Practice: Print and complete the subtraction practice page below. Write the answer in the circle. For extra practice, your child can write the numbers themselves on a piece of paper then write the correct answer. This is a great chance to practice writing numbers in the correct direction!

3. May do:

Use Zearn/ST math (whichever your teacher uses) for 15 minutes.
Subtraction Bowling: All you need is a piece of paper, a pencil, five or ten plastic cups, and a tennis ball, whiffle ball, etc. Show your child how to set up the "pins" as if you were bowling, provide a spot or line to stand next to or behind, and roll the ball toward the plastic cups see how many you can knock down! On the piece of paper record your subtraction equation. For example, if you start with five "pins" and you knock down 3 your equation will be 5-3=2. The first number in your equation will always be the amount of cups you start with. After you record your equation, set your "pins" back up and bowl again! Send your teacher a picture of you playing subtraction bowling!

Watch and Learn: Watch today's devotional again.
Must Do: Write about the tomb being empty because Jesus is ALIVE! This is such good news and Jesus wants us to share it with the world! When you are finished, have a parent staple all your Easter Story Book pages together in order. You will share your favorite page with your teacher this week as one of your turn-in assignments.
