Reading

Find your reading teacher and complete the activities listed below. This may not be your regular classroom teacher! Email your classroom teacher if you are unsure which group your child is in.

Miss White's Reading Group

Watch and Learn: Become a better reader by sounding out "soft c" and "soft g" words.

Your Turn: Read The Gingerbread Man (Wonders jungle book with giraffe, pages 50-65).

Practice: Select one of the following activities to continue building reading fluency:

Log into Lexia for 15+ minutes.
Reread stories from our Wonders books for 15+ minutes.
Practice your high frequency words. Idea of the day: Roll out playdoh and spell words with a toothpick.

Watch and Learn: Practice vowel focused reading with Mrs. Neidigh! Watch for words where Flippy the Dolphin could make an appearance! :)

Your Turn:

Read Whistle for Willie in your Literature Anthology one time.
Answer questions 1-3 under "Text Evidence" on pg. 255. Have these answers ready to share with your homeroom teacher during weekly check-ins!

Practice: Read Shake! Strike! Strum! in your anthology book on pg. 258. Can you make one of the instruments in the book? Think of how God gave us the ability and talent to make sounds and music that glorify Him!

Mrs. Rose's Reading Group

Watch and Learn: Work on writing words using the ou/ow sound. You will need paper, pencil, and scissors.

Your Turn: Watch the video and write the sentence. Please make sure you do this on your own with no help from parents. Remember your capital letters, punctuation marks, sight word spelling, and sound spelling words. Email a picture to your homeroom teacher.

Your Turn: In the large red book, read the story Whistle for Willie. Check the table of contents to find the page number. See if you can discover the problem and how the main character finds a solution

Practice: Read your just for fun book for 15+minutes.

Math

Practice: Use your subtraction skills to complete Fluency Check #14 posted below.
May Do: Follow the instructions to create your own comparison story problem by creating a Paper Mosaic.

Writing

Watch & Learn: Watch Mrs. Neidigh edit her story.
Practice: Your turn! Are all of these items good to go?
1. Proper capitals only in names and at the beginning of sentences
2. Periods/appropriate punctuation at the end of every sentence
3. All high frequency words are spelled correctly (use the list provided! We have learned Smart Start- "oh" in Unit 5)
4. All tricky words have been stretched out so every sound is written down on your paper
5. Once you have edited your WHOLE paper, upload it to the Google form! Have it ready to read to your teacher during your weekly check-in! Make sure you NAME is on your paper please :)
