Watch and Learn: Let's read long vowel words with "Mama e".
Your Turn: This week, your child will work at his/her own pace through 3 stories. Your child is ready to move onto the next story when he/she is reading smoothly, only sounding out a few words, and self-correcting all mistakes.
1. Life At Home (little red book with giraffe, page 75)
2. Rose's Birthday (online story is included below)
3. Long Ago and Now (jungle book with giraffe, page 75)
Practice: Select one of the following activities to continue building reading fluency:
Watch and Learn: Practice vowel focused reading with Mrs. Neidigh as she reviews your sound spelling of the week!
Your Turn: Read March On! on pgs. 296-301 in your big book.
Answer the comprehension question on pg. 301 in the blue box titled "Making Connections." Be sure to write your answer down somewhere, or sticky note it in your page!
Practice: Read any story in your big or little book we have already read so far. See how much you can remember, and try not to sound out any words!
Watch and Learn: Review this weeks reading comprehension skill and strategy.
Your Turn: Grab your just for fun reading book. It can be any book you have in your house. Read for 15 min. See if you can identify the theme or themes within your book. As you read make sure that you are monitoring your reading and understanding every sentence that you read. If you don't understand go back and reread!
Your Turn: Come up with sentences using the vocabulary words for the week.
risk, fair, argument, conflict, shift
Challenge: Write the sentences making sure to check your spelling, capitalization, and punctuation marks.
Practice: Choose one activity and work at it for 15+ minutes.

This week we challenge you to build the tallest rock tower you can. Watch the video of Mrs. Rose making a tower out of the rocks in her yard. Take a picture and send it to your teacher.
This week make it a point to pray every morning when you wake up. Each day when you pray include someone different that you haven't prayed for yet this week.
Read: John 20:24-29- Jesus Appears to Thomas
Read the story of Thomas and how he needed to see to believe the news that Jesus had risen from the dead.
Ask: How can we believe in Jesus even when we have not seen him?
Activity : Give each child a piece of paper and an orange or pink marker or highlighter (other colors will not work). Tell kids to draw a picture of Jesus. Give each child a piece of red cellophane to tape it over their drawing. The colors of the drawing will blend with the red cellophane, making it look like Jesus disappears.
Discuss: When you cover the drawing with cellophane, it looks like Jesus disappears, but he hasn't. He's still there. Tell children that just because we can’t see Jesus doesn’t mean he isn’t there. How can we have faith in Jesus?
