Morning Devotional with Mrs. Martin's substitute teacher!
Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23
Prayer: Lord, help me do my part to grow your fruit in my heart, by spending time with you and talking to you.
Book: 100 Illustrated Devotions for Children by Rick Warren
Life skill: Diligence- "I will work hard to finish a task even when it's hard!"
Memory Verse for April: Proverbs 14:23. All hard work pays off. But if all you do is talk, you will be poor.
Our essential question this week is this: What do good citizens do? Tell mom or dad (or whoever is helping you with your at home learning) at least two things that you think a good citizen would do. Remember that this earth is not our final home. Someday we will all be citizens of Heaven, and our time on earth should be preparing us for that goal!
Watch to learn the two new vocabulary words (citizen and respect) you need to know before reading/watching Hen Hears Gossip. Be ready to practice these two words and use them in sentences this week! Both of these words relate to our Essential Question for this week: What do good citizens do?
Strategy: Monitor & Clarify or Reread: Remember that good readers reread to help themselves understand. Something might not make sense as you read, but reading again can help the story events be clear. Sometimes you might even need to reread pages earlier in the story.
Skill: Cause and Effect: Cause and effect is when one event in a story causes another event to happen. The cause tells why it happened. The effect tells what happened.
Read each cause and ask yourself, "What effect did it have?"
Watch and help Pirate Pete identify coins!
