Fretsaw / scrollsaw operations are carried out in two locations within the D&T department: Room 1G2 and the General Purpose Workshop.
Students are permitted to use the fretsaws (under direct supervision) and provided full demonstration of safe working practice have been observed by the students in-question and that they are deemed safe and competent to do so.
There are currently no installed LEV dust extractors connected to these machines and they are only to be used for light fretwork and coping operations.
It is important that the blade is correctly fitted to the saw, ensuring that it cuts on the downward stroke (thus pushing the workpiece onto the workstable as it does so).
