This booklet contains everything you need to know or do in order to pass Unit 1, the design unit. This is worth 25% of your final grade. Remember to pay close attention to the assessment criteria as these will help you ensure you do your best work and set yourself up to meet your target grade.

There are certain tasks which are expected to be completed. These are listed below (words underlined are hyperlinks to help pages):
Analysis of the design brief.
Research into speakers / amplifiers and how they work.
Research into existing products.
Product analysis / Product 'teardown' (disassembly and analysis).
Research into suitable manufacturing processes.
Design specification. Note - you will also need your phone dimensions for this.
4 x Initial design ideas.
Evaluation of design ideas against specification.
CAD development.
Orthographic drawing of final design with full dimensions.
Isometric drawing of final design with annotation.
The folder below contains the assignment brief and the digital files for the Stereo Amplifier case which you will use to help determine the important dimensions. You will be able to upload the 3D model below to your own Fusion 360 account and design your own front panel to ensure that it fits the 'real-world' product that you will be manufacturing in Unit 2 (9792).
