All pupils in Year 7 undertake a Curriculum for Wales 'themed' unit of learning called 'Rockets'. In this unit pupils learn about the nature of projectile motion and the mathematical principles of shape, area and volume. In doing so they get to work with each other in collaboration to design, simulate, create and test rockets.
On these pages you will see reference to trebuchets. These are medieval siege engines which were used to propel heavy projectiles into castles to get them to fall down. They were studied in 2019 but have been left here for interest as the subject is the same.
You will have the opportunity to test out your prototype trebuchet using the following simulator.
