Hot Melt Glue Gun

Hot-melt glue guns are authorised for use in all available D&T classrooms provided some basic safety precautions are correctly observed.

Students must be shown the correct method of using the hot-melt glue gun prior to being allowed to use it themselves without direct supervision.

• Only glue guns and glue sticks sourced from the D&T store supply may be used. 

• The nozzles must not be left directly touching the material or table surface below.

• The glue gun must be switched off at the wall and the plug removed after use. 

• The glue gun must be cleaned periodically to remove excess glue from the nozzle. This must be done with the glue gun switched off and cold.

• Paper must be placed beneath the materials being glued together in order to protect the tables and benches from getting damaged.

• High temperature gloves will be provided.
