This unit of work is worth 50% of your final grade. It is very important.

This booklet contains all the technical information you need to know to be able to complete the bricklaying practical task.
You will need to complete the following assignments for each practical activity:
Identify all the tools and equipment required to complete the job. There is a template that you can complete inside the project book for this.
Complete a method statement.
There is a template here for this. This will contain:
Details of the project and nature of the work being undertaken.
A PPE request form.
A cutting list / materials request form.
A hand written calculations sheet. Here is an example.
A tools & equipment request form.
A risk assessment.
An order of operations (work plan).

This spreadsheet tool will help guide you through the process of estimating the quantities of bricks, sand, cement, and concrete for your project.

If you get frustrated because other people are using the same tool at the same time and it is constantly changing, click here to make your own copy in your Google Drive which no-one else can edit.
The tool in the 3d CAD model can be downloaded as an .stl file and 3d printed.
It can help aid with levelling a full course as you can sit it directly on top of the bricks you are laying without having to worry about driving stakes into the hard ground.
Note. This tool will only work if your 'master' bricks are level to begin with.
