You are going to be asked to manufacture the sheet metal toolbox in the CAD model shown.
You will be provided with all the drawings you need to complete the task.
There are three grades awarded for this unit: Pass, Merit and Distinction. Your teacher will assess you according to the following criteria:
You will have to:
(1) PLAN a making task - (2) DO it - (3) REVIEW (evaluate) it
You will complete the assignment by completing the following tasks:
Plan the manufacture of the product by:
Identifying the making tasks required and sequencing them in a logical order.
Identifying the tools and equipment needed, the dangers of each and the safety precautions to be followed to avoid injury.
Identifying the critical points in manufacture, including the checks required to pass quality control.
Carry out the manufacture of the product.
Taking photographs of you carrying out each making task and writing a short 'making diary'.
Evaluate:
How successful is your final product when compared against the engineering drawings?
Your own experiences and progress:
What did you find difficult? Why?
How did you overcome problems?
What could you do differently?
What advice would you give others?
