What skills do you have which might be required of an engineer?
Give yourself a score out of 10 for each of the criteria below.
Write your scores down on your worksheet and give a short reason for your answers. Be honest with yourself.
Creativity - Do you enjoy doodling, sketching, creating things at home or in school or imagining solutions to problems?
Communication - Do you often act as a go-between or mediate with your friends? Do you like to help people work out their issues? Do you enjoy finding out information from different sources and bringing it together?
Collaboration - Do you like working with others? Can you work as part of a team?
Digital knowledge - Do you enjoy using technology? Are you confident in learning new skills or adapting to new technologies?
Hands-on practical skills - Do you enjoy using your hands and doing practical activities? Using tools and equipment, etc.
Reading & writing - Do you enjoy reading or writing? Do you take care over your presentation? Do you communicate clearly and expressively?
Sustainability knowledge - How well do you understand the impact that human activity and human interaction and consumption of resources have upon the environment?
Using numbers - How well do you enjoy using numeracy, arithmetic or carrying out calculations, looking at graphs or data to help you make decisions or to solve problems?
