Sketchbook

This page was created with alcohol markers and sharpies. I used these colors because they work together well and they are some of my favorite colors. The words are things that either describe me, are things that I like, or are things that I want to do. For instance, I have "baseball" as one of the words because I love baseball.

I chose these three pages from my sketchbook because they show my creative process. They show how I go through making a project and show how an artwork never starts out perfect. They show techniques I experiment with and other ideas I have along the way.

The Lone Saddle

Media: Charcoal, Prismacolor

The Project:

This was my Rodeo art project. I took a picture of a real saddle and a real fence and put them together. I used the charcoal techniques we had learned before to add in values and make the saddle look real.

Reaching to the Universe

Media: Prismacolors, Pen, Highlighter, Collage (Construction paper), Sharpie

The Project:

This was made with many different steps to it. First, we drew random still-lifes without looking at them. We used different drawing techniques like collage and continuous line in the project. Then, we were let loose to make it how we wanted. I added more hands and colorful circles to make the artwork more interesting and put-together.

Playtime

Media: Prismacolors

Goal For the Project:

This was our first colored pencil project. I learned a lot in this project because I had never really worked with colored pencils before. We also worked with different color schemes and blending techniques. The artwork shows differently sized beads and ribbons, all drawn from real life.

Valued Shapes

Media: Graphite Pencils (2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)

Goal For the Project:

This was one of my favorite projects. I learned the most during this unit. We worked with graphite pencils, which I had never worked with before. We worked on blending techniques and really focused on values, especially since it was a still life.
