Each line is either part of another or is the end of one and beginning of another. The patterns are round and sharp in order to show the complexity of my personality. The artwork is hectic, yet pieced together. Straight lines are interrupted by curved lines, zigzag lines are met with straight and curved lines, and some thin lines are contrasted by thick lines. The most important part of the piece is the sun in the bottom right corner. The rays underneath it depict the feeling of the summer sun and the waves above it depict the contrast of the hot sun and cool water. I created this piece to show my eclectic, adventurous, and outdoorsy side. The piece is meant to feel like looking at summer.
Organic Coil Pot
The lines in this coil pot curve and twist to depict an image of curvy coral on the ocean floor. The line diversity shows hectic yet related designs. The artwork pulls together to create an organic look at the ocean floor. The purpose of this piece is to show a calming yet hectic image of the ocean, because I love it so much!! The texture is made to recreate scenes from different ocean cartoons like The Little Mermaid and Nemo! I love coral reefs, seaweed, and barnacles, so I tried to tie that into the piece.
Face Mug
This Face Mug was originally a pinch pot with added coils. I rolled more corals to make the eyes, lips, and eyebrows. Obviously, I was trying to convey anger through my artwork. I feel like I achieved the goal, especially with the curved eyebrow and the way I slanted the eyelids. The sharpness of the cheekbones are intended to show intensity.
