Welcome to my portfolio! I am Karli Kapche and I am a Freshmen in High School. Here you will see some of the art I have completed this year, Enjoy!
Media: Colored Pencil
Creating his art allowed me to explore a new medium, Colored pencil. I loved the challenge and I strived to create my best work possible. My favorite part in the piece is either the tree trunk in the background or the pants.
Media: Colored Pencil
This piece allowed me to explore the possibilities of not only holiday-themed art, but sketching something out in order to make it in real life.
Prep-Sketch:
Media: Graphite Pencil
This reference photo was taken outside of a "Boot Barn", of a worker on his first day, who was willing to be photographed for an art piece. Art has led me to experiences I never would have dreamed of, and this story was one of the most interesting. I used a medium I had worked with a lot, so I was very comfortable with the values.
Media: Colored Pencil
This was my second major art piece using colored pencil, and this time I tried out a gray-toned paper. This was a very helpful and fun experience because it allowed me to add highlights to contrast the paper.
Media: Water color & graphite
This self portrait gave the fun opportunity to try out and learn a new medium, while adding my own twist. I loved creating the symbolism of fire-hair for this piece and would love to create more watercolor pieces.
Process of using Ink and a baron for printing.
The sketch, to be inverted and used for reference.
This project focused on the stress and baggage we feel and have to endure in our most dark moments. The symbolism of the boulder and incline give an insight to the feeling of getting no where despite your best efforts. But on the other side of that boulder is a better place; we just have to push through and not give up.
Media: Graphite
This sketch helped me develop my skills in values, and drawing water.
Media: Colored Pencil
Through these pieces I expressed how eyes are the expressers of sadness and worked with white pen as well.
Media: Graphite
This Harry Potter themed drawing was very fun to draw with all of its beautiful feathers.
Media: Graphite
This sketch was the first drawing we did in art this year, and I worked with a still-life book, stamp, and brush.
Media: Graphite pencil
Through this sketch I learned a new way of thinking. This inverted sketch challenged me to test my level of understanding in order to create a mirror-like effect.
Media: Colored Pencil
A Christmas themed art piece that contains a pop of red-peppermint. Candy canes were always my favorite parts of the holidays. These sugary-delights bring a shock of minty-spice that brings the Christmas spirit.
Media: Graphite
This marvelous sketch gave me the opportunity to work with shadows, indentions, and fencing. I enjoyed creating an architectural sketch and who knows, I may even use this sketch as a reference to create a 3D model.
