Cat mug- I started off this mug by making a pinch pot. Then we brainstormed and researched what animal we wanted to make on our mug or planter. We sketched out the faces. I started sculpting the basic cat shapes onto the pot, and slipped and scored to insure it would stick. At the end, I put slip all over the pot to smooth it, and then added paper clay on broken pieces. I really liked the cat that Mrs. Whiting was making when demonstrating. So I decided to make a cat. My cat only has a nose, ears, mouth, and whiskers. I did not add eyes. My artwork is not conveying any message or issue, it is just a cat. For this project, I wanted to make it my best looking mug so far. I think I reached that goal and it is the best looking out of the other projects. I like how my cat looks. I learned how to take basic shapes and make something out of those shapes. All I used where circles and spheres and now its a cat.
Face mug- I started out by making a pinch pot. After I got the right shape, I added on more coils to make it taller. Then I smoothed down the inside and outside. We started to add on details like a nose, mouth, eyes, and cheekbones. I then went back and worked on detail of the face features. Nobody really inspired my artwork. I think in a way this pot is me in quarantine right now. I’m just chilling, not really happy nor sad. I think that the face looks bored. Once I go in with a sharpie on the eyes I think hopefully I can make him express more. My goals were to make it as best as possible. I wasn't expecting to be quarantined and away from school so that threw me off a bit. I think it looks okay, however I was hoping for it to look a little better. I learned how I need to pay attention to details better, and to not rush. I don't think this is my best work, however for never taking an art class it’s not terrible.
Line sculpture- I see many different lines and patterns. The sculpture is black and white. There are smudges and circles. I used many different patterns including zig zag, circles, dots, checkers, swirly lines, and stars. I had different sections of different patterns. I have different textures throughout. I have only black and white. There is a lot going on in my sculpture. It looks wild and fun. My favorite part of this piece is the polka dots with triangles or the checkers. I do not like this artwork, I don't think it's my best work. I think I could have worked harder and made it look better. I like the patterns I used. I think I should have been more careful when cutting and taping.
