The way I created this pot was by starting off with a chunk of clay and rolled it into a ball the size of a tennis ball. I then started the shape of the mug by sticking my thumb into the middle of the ball and pushing gently. I repeated those steps over and over until it grew out and up. I then started to roll my coils to have my mug taller than wider. After it was done being constructed I started to smooth the inside and outside of the pot flat. Once that was complete I slipped and scored the clay so I could stick on a mouth, nose, eyes, and eyebrows. The final touch was making the hole at the bottom so it could be a flower pot. My goals for this project were to make a face. In the end it turned out to look like Rango from the movie Rango. I thought it was hard to make a face but the final product came out to look as I would have thought. I learned that making faces out of clay was hard and that I could not do it. If I made a mouth the nose got messed up. When I fixed the nose the mouth got messed up and it just turned out fictional. I do not think I was successful.
I see that my shape is in the form of a capital T. There are many different patterns and lines inside, some are darker than others. The only colors are black and white. The front and back of the letter has designs while the sides are just black. The shape is three dimensional and the width is three inches. The crazy less generic designs show my fun side and crazy side. All around the shape it shows a flowing pattern for me going with whatever is happening. The lines that look like a coral reef show brain cells for some creativity that I have. The stripes are for my basic side because I don’t know what to do.
Lines are used in this to flow with one another but be different in each of the sections. Even with the different sections of patterns they all come together to make that shape interesting. As well as lines there are a lot of circles to compliment all the lines used in the patterns. I think this art project was pretty fun because I like drawing things into patterns like squiggly lines and stripes. The challenge was trying to tape and cut out the shape and walls evenly. Once I got it taped it was easy from there. The best part was drawing the shape because it was time consuming and a way to rest during the day.
