I chose to make a turtle because it is one of the most beautiful and serene animals on Earth! To me, turtles are adorable. The issue that my mug expresses is love for the turtles and to keep the ocean clean so they can live. My goal for this mug was to create a pot that resembled a turtle and make it look similar to the picture I found online. I felt very successful in reaching my goal. Especially because I felt my turtle looked very cute and looked similar to the picture except it did not have a handle. I learned that using a model I am able to somewhat remake it but still change it up. I also learned that if I focus more I can get my work done faster.
The lines are used to add movement throughout the piece. On the backside, the eye can move either from the top left corner to the rest of the letter or it again can start in the center with the diagonal line and go up or down. On the backside, the piece allows for freedom and movement with all the white space. The front side alludes to the stiffness and darkness of being a teen. Yet the back gives an idea for freedom and a sense of being younger and more cheerful than the front side. The most important part of the piece is how the 3-D effect gives off two different sides and looks. I created this piece to show line movement and the different parts of my brain coming together like the more childlike side combining with the formal and bold side.
This piece shows movement throughout the pot. The most important part of the piece is the porcupine quill-like things because they also the eye to move around the most and it causes the texture to rise up the highest. The best thing about this piece is the sun. The coil pot evokes a feeling of happiness with the sun then a flower. The porcupine quill things on the other hand evoke a feeling of sharpness with there being a lot of them and going up the side right next to the flower.
