My artwork is inspired by a face hidden in a tree. My artwork expresses the emotions of someone who is stuck in a tree. The emotion and message I am trying to convey in my masterpiece are an angry, but sacred expression on a male human face. I made it into a plant potter so I could use it functionally every day. Another message I tried to convey through my artwork is showing a human expression that any average human can have.
My artwork was inspired by a cartoon hippopotamus. My work was also inspired by other people in my class's ideas and my love for hippopotamuses. My work expresses that the artist was not able to make clay real-life animals, so a cartoon face was sculpted instead. I was trying to convey was to make people happy when they look at the planter and wonder what it is to begin searching their mind and using intellectual thinking. My artwork helped me see a deeper meaning in creating an animal and the struggles that come with that, but the reliefs and happiness you get from seeing the final product.
The movement of nature is going all around the pot. I see leaves and flowers that go around the whole pot. It makes me feel like I am outside of the artwork is peaceful. It also makes me feel happy with the way the vase looks. The most important part of this piece is the texture and the shape. I created this piece for use and sight. I used slip and score to add a lot of texture to this piece. The textures are effective in giving the vase depth and personality. The viewer’s eyes move around the piece as they see the texture of the leaves and flowers that create an experience.
