I created my artwork from a soft white clay. I did a pinch pot about the size of a tennis ball. After I got my shape I started to add coils to make it taller. My inspiration for this artwork was to make a perfect face. I wanted to make the face super symmetrical. I think I achieved the perfect idea that was in my head. I was trying to express a neutral facial expression on the pot. The message I conveyed throughout my pot is that nobody’s face is perfect and you need to embrace the organic look of you.
The viewer’s eye moves around the piece with the curved bump in the middle of the pot. The pot is an organic shape which means it mimics nature. There are leading lines on the textures that look like leaves on the side. I see subtle movements happening in this piece. The most important of this piece is the rim at the top because it creates a curved line that flows into the rest of the pot. I really like this piece because it is well executed and simple. I like the leaves all around the pot because they add that organic feel to it. I dislike the fact that it is not perfect but that is the point of an organic piece, so I am not too mad about it.
The crazy design of the lines really makes this piece. I do like this art because it has a very energetic feeling when you look at it. I do not like how the tape is not perfect. If I could change anything about this piece I would not have painted on the artwork. This makes me feel unfinished because I didn’t spend as much time on this piece.
