Free Falling
Relief Printmaking
I used sensory analogy. Initially, I was basing it on a song and I had gotten inspired by the music video where the singer was falling into the water. I had also thought of doing one where the person would be falling through the sky, kind of like a feeling of control when in actuality you have no control. I decided to sketch both then decided to use falling out of the sky. I then decided to use a skeleton which got me thinking about the movie “It” which is when I added the balloons for a more eerie effect. I learned more about human autonomy and skeletons. This could help me a lot in future artworks of people and/or maybe skeletons again.
Other Side of Me
Graphite, Watercolor, and Ink.
I decided to approach by incorporating who I am but also making sure I incorporate who I want to become. This is why I decided to put things that represent me above my head and represent myself as a politician which is what I hope to become. I placed the artwork upside down becaus that's how I prefer to view it. Upside down, I feel like I look younger and more like me currently. On top of that, you see my thoughts and beliefs flowing around me the right way up. When you flip it right side up, I look older and it shows me doing my future job as an adult.
Tree Pulp
Graphite
I learned many new forms of texture as well as how to incorporate them into even the most unlikely artworks. I also discovered how great of an effect contrast can have on an artwork.
Over the River
Watercolor, Oil Pastel, and Prisma Color
I learned how to use Prisma color and oil pastel together. For the bluebonnets, I applied oil pastel then Prisma color overtop and learned how to work the two materials into each other.
Countdown to Christmas
Prisma Color
With this artwork, I was trying to incorporate a candy cane into the artwork. I decided to draw a gingerbread wonderland being built in the kitchen.
Sketchbook Projects
Parallels
Ink, Relief printmaking
Frontal Cortex
Drawing/Prisma color & marker
I first began by creating eight different types of artwork such as artwork with stripes and/or waves. Then from there, I applied each of these eight types to the title page I was creating. I drew out nine sections within a rectangle and randomly, using questions given to me by my teacher, decided which of the eight types of drawings would go into which section and then drew them.I learned that not everything has to be so technical and thought out. It’s okay to allow yourself to randomize and freely draw with your instincts.
