@PrintByXerox is a service from Xerox that our printer/multi-function device (AltaLink C8045) is compatible with. You register and account, then send documents that you wish to print to Print@PrintByXerox.com. You can then print any of these documents on any printer that supports it, just by logging in on the printer and choosing the document.
To register for an account, send an email to Print@PrintByXerox.com (case doesn't matter). The subject and body of the email can be empty.
It will register your email and reply with a password, user ID, and a link to change your password.
Even if you use a password manager, it is advisable to use the link to change your password, for security reasons.
You do not need to remember the user ID unless you wish to hide your email when printing.
Email a document as an attachment to Print@PrintByXerox.com (case doesn't matter) from an email address you have already registered.
It is sensible to choose a meaningful subject, especially if the file name of the document doesn't identify it.
You do not need to say anything in the body of the email, but if you do, you can print that too.
You can print an email just by forwarding it, but it will have the usual note about when it was forwarded, and by who, at the top, and the footer at the bottom. Also, images may not work. It is likely better to make a PDF of the email by choosing to print it from your mail application or GMail, and then choosing 'Save As PDF', and then sending the PDF.
While MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents will work, they may not be printed as they are displayed. Exporting them as a PDF from the relevant MS Office application is likely to work better.
When you have sent the document, go to the printer, and open the @PrintByXerox app from the home screen.
Login with either your email, or the unique ID you were given in the registration email, and your password.
Select which document you wish to print (selecting the attachment, not the email itself) and tap 'Print Settings'. Check/choose the settings you want, and hit 'Print'.
Do not use this to print confidential information, including documents with people's personally identifiable information.
Remember to logout by tapping the box with your email address in the top left corner when you are done.
You can delete documents, including the email body of emails they were atached to, by clicking on the bin icon next to them, in the @PrintByXerox app on the printer.
You can download the 'Xerox Workplace Cloud Portal' app to print and upload documents from your mobile device.
