Competence
Ballard UK and Arcola Companies shall determine competency requirements, assess competency levels, train staff and keep records of this.
Line Managers are responsible for ensuring the competence of their workers.
This is further elaborated by the "Training & Competence" H&S Process.
Awareness
All Ballard UK and Arcola staff must be aware of:
H&S Policy & Objectives
their contribution to the effectiveness of the HSM
the implications of not conforming to the HSM
the outcomes of incident investigations
hazards and risks relevant to them
the ability to remove themselves from work situations that they consider present a serious danger to them
Communication
Ballard UK and Arcola Companies use a number of means to ensure its staff has the right awareness and HSM information.
This includes this staff site, emails, H&S Safety days, forms and team meetings. There are daily "Tool Box Talks" on sites where practical work is underway (e.g. MSIP, Bo'ness).
This is broken down by the HSM Communication Plan.
Document Control
All H&S documents should have an HSM code and be added to the HSM Document Register.
All Safety documents should Engineering document code and to the Engineering Document Register.
Document Version Control should be used as per IMS.
Safety Document Templates should be used.
