First Aid

Responsible: Miriam Mahony, Arcola Theatre.

• • Only those named First Aider staff members who have been on the relevant training, and Arcola have their certificates, are to administer first aid at Arcola Theatre/Energy.

  • The first aider should be called upon in any first aid emergency, even if this is as little as a cut finger which needs a plaster, to a more serious accident/injury.

  • Do remember that first aiders are not doctors or paramedics, we deliver first aid and a large part of this is to help calm the injured person and the situation that has lead to the injury (especially true for the Duty Managers and Bar Supervisor staff).

  • If you witness a first aid emergency or need first aid yourself, follow these steps:

  • 1. Call for the first aider/use radio to call for a first aider. Arcola Energy staff working at the factory/lone Theatre staff at studio 5, should take a radio with them.

  • 2. Stay with the person until the first aider arrives.

3. Assist the first aider as directed, this might be locating the first aid box (the first aider should bring with them) calling an ambulance on 999, or helping calm the situation and keep other people out of the way so that they don’t delay or interfere with the first aid treatment.
