COSHH

The Arcola companies are in the process of implementing measures to reduce workers' exposure to substances hazardous to their health in line with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002. These measures are centered around the companies identifying and assessing risk associated with hazardous substances, and providing appropriate control measures to prevent harm to workers. These control measures include the provision of training, supporting documentation and processes, relevant control measures and PPE, appropriate storage and a general awareness of COSHH related hazards associated to everyday activities.

Hazardous substances take many forms, some examples include:

- Chemicals

- Fumes

- Gases and asphyxiants

- Dusts

Activities that involve use of such substances will be individually risk assessed based on hazardous substances used and/or generated and associated risk, control measures currently in place and future control measures required. Control will be deemed as adequate when the risk of harm is as low as is reasonably practical.
