Producing involves taking a production from an Idea through to staging and even future life.
Our Producing Model defines a 'gated' framework for developing and managing productions through their project life cycle. It starts with a project idea (Vision) and continues through project preparation and project planning to project execution (staging) and finally project closing (reflection, learning and future life).
Producing is preceded by scheduling within Programming Model and before that development/selection within Artistic Development.
All projects in the Project Model are coordinated by the Programming (Project Portfolio Management) Process
Projects in which we have responsibility for physical production will often call on the Physical Production Model to provide a rigorous process for safe realisation of the physical aspects of project.
Project Stages:
- Activities enter the Project Model process as an Idea (often generated and prepared in the Artistic Development process)
- Project Idea phase ends with G0 (Gate zero).
- Project Preparation phase ends with G1.
- Project Planning phase ends with G2.
- Project Execution phase ends with G3.
- Project Closing phase ends with G4.

General Project Definition:
- A temporally limited one-time job which creates an agreed outcome.
- Work that is managed by a nominated project manager.
- Work which has clearly defined objectives concerning deliverables, cost and time.
The Project model is defined in the document "QMSxxx Production (Project Model) PROCESS and TRAINING" that defines the process how to use it and also delivers a brief training on project development and management. The document is saved in 'TEMPLATES' together with the actual templates that deliver the model.
Templates:
- Project Presentation (Google Slides: what the project is, how it will be managed, what it will deliver)
- Project Budget
- Meeting Agenda and Minutes of Meeting (Word)
The Producing Model is a process, and processes are never frozen. The Producing Model is reviewed and, if needed, re-released once a year.
