Field Day

This week our Primary School community joined in to our Field Days. An opportunity for parents to join their children in school, developing collaboration, determination and leadership skills while having fun with a variety of games and activities.

We give a big shout out to our Athletics Department, which created this amazing experience for our families.

Big Questions Day Exhibition

This week, our readers and musicians came together to host a Big Questions Day exhibition! They showcased their skills through musical performances on stage, while our skilled readers entertained with a puppetry show.

Parent Workshop:
Growing as Leaders in our Community

Our Kindergarten team and Counselor hosted the Growing as Leaders in our Community Parent Workshop this week. This workshop aimed to promote social-emotional competencies in order to build Ethical Global Leaders.

Through experiential learning, parents experienced how teamwork fosters cooperation, collaboration, and inclusion. Additionally, they practiced emotional regulation strategies and conflict resolution to be able to connect with themselves and others, promoting the pursuit of constructive and compassionate solutions. Through the repetitive and constant modeling of emotional regulation strategies and conflict resolutions, they reflected on how leaders are capable of connecting with themselves.

American Revolution Debate

Our 4th graders celebrated their reading history unit with a reenactment of the Second Continental Congress during The American Revolution to discuss if the colonies should become independent from Great Britain.  During this unit fourth graders have learned how to read and understand points of view in order to gain a more complete picture of events in the past.  In addition, they have learned to uncover important details and facts,  to angle evidence to fit an argument, and to begin to think about whose side is right, which they agree with and why.

Birdhouse Project

Our 5th graders were showcasing their amazing nest box designs and inspiring our 3rd and 4th graders to be engineers!  The 5th graders were tasked with the challenge to build a nest box that meets the specific needs of a local Nicaraguan bird.  They followed the constraints and recommendations of the Cornell University's Lab of Ornithology and the design process to create their nest boxes! It was incredible to hear them talking about their designs and the process they went through to create them!

April: Literacy Month

During April, we will host our Book Week Celebration - an occasion dedicated to celebrate literacy, a cornerstone of future academic excellence. At ANS, we foster academic biliteracy from the earliest stages of education.

During Book Week, we come together as a community to celebrate the importance of reading and writing. Students will participate in our Book Week Challenges, while our parents can join the celebration as Mystery Readers during the whole month of April in our Primary School classrooms. It's a great opportunity for all to celebrate literacy as it shapes global leaders!
