Kicked Off the
2023-24 School Year
2023-24 School Year
This week we kicked off our 2023-24 school year. We welcomed back all our Tigers to campus and had a great start!
We are excited for the journey we have begun and the year we have ahead, focused on creating dynamic and innovative learning experiences and having student driven learning happening in each space at ANS!
Swimming Program at ANS
After hosting (& winning!) last year's AASCA Swimming Tournament, the ANS Pool is recently renovated for our Tigers. The pool is busy throughout the day, with our first PE class entering the water at 7:00 a.m. and our SwimTigers club team practicing until early evening. In Nicaragua, the land of lakes and volcanoes, we are fortunate to foster water safety and strong swimming for all students. Please, read the sections below to get to know more about the aligned curriculum and the achievements of our swimming program.

Growth and Evaluation

The ANS Swimming Program is standard-based in alignment with the U.S. Physical Education Standards (SHAPE). Their progress is evaluated weekly, as well as attendance, attitude and discipline, based on grade-level expectations for physical literacy & fitness in both pool-based and land-based activities:
demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.
applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.
demonstrates the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.
exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.
recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.
Pool Maintenance, Locker Rooms and Restrooms
ANS Pool and all adjacent areas are maintained to the highest hygienic standards in accordance with the US CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). The changing area is equipped with private changing stalls and individual shower stalls, and is cleaned 3 times a day.
