Swimming

Our swimming program has long been a cause for great pride amongst our community and since swimming was introduced at the AASCA level, our results and championships have been unrivaled.

ANS offers swimming in PE across the school divisions, as an after school option, and via our very own academy “SwimTigers”, all overseen by our head swim coach and athletic department administrator Mr. Andriy Kulyk (andriy.kulyk@ans.edu.ni).

SwimTigers has consistently produced high caliber swimmers and has seen members compete at the National Federation level, represent Nicaragua internationally, and even go on to swim at the olympics!

This week, our affiliated swimmers:

Have participated in the National Open Short Course Championship, organized by the Nicaraguan Swimming Federation in Michele Richardson 25-meter pool.

The medal winners were Erick Lagos (Gold in 50m breaststroke) and Marielisa Castillos (Silver in 50m butterfly).

All the other ANS swimmers have recorded considerable progress in their personal best times.

Congratulations to our Elite Swimmers!

This Saturday, 2nd of December, SwimTigers (previously Pirañas Club) celebrates its 25th anniversary with an event here on campus with a competition involving the following clubs, age groups and events:

Totalling 114 swimmers.

We wish all the best to every ANS student participating in this event and the members of our swimming community who will be out in force supporting our team as always, and congratulate SwimTigers and Mr. Kulyk for this incredible achievement..

Gymnastics

Another discipline where ANS competes at the federation level and is privileged to have a private academy attached to our program is Gymnastics.

Nicaraguan national team coach, head coach of our after school gymnastics program, and Technical Director of the "Gymnast Tigers Academy" Ms. Liud Tellez (liud.tellez@ans.edu.ni) took 30 young athletes to the Polideportivo Espana National Gymnastics Center last Saturday, to compete in a range of disciplines and age groups in the “Copa Interclubes” hosted by the National Federation.

Young gymnasts from Pathways to 5th grade represented ANS in floor, vault, parallel bars and balance beam, and won a total of 28 competition medals, plus others awarded for participation in the “beginners' category”.

We would like to thank every single athlete that represented ANS at this event along with all the families who worked tirelessly to support the program, sacrificing their weekend, having the girls come with their hair and makeup done, arranging for flowers for our gymnasts and much more.

We also want to thank our incredible coaching team, who were at the event from 7.00am to 8.00pm, for all their hard work and dedication to our community.

Don't practice until you get it right, practice until you can't get it wrong.
