After School Sports Begin Next Week

Your ANS Athletic Department is delighted to welcome you back to a brand-new semester and thrilled to announce that the full after-school sports program will resume next Monday, January 15th!

For those who had their child registered in the first semester, there is no need to worry about signing up again. You're all set to jump right back into the action in the same activities, age groups and schedules! We're excited to see familiar faces return to the field, court, track, and pool, ready to showcase their talent, dedication, and tiger spirit.

Our coaches have been eagerly preparing for the new semester, and they can't wait to hit the ground running with all of our talented athletes. This semester will see ANS participate at the varsity level in 4 AASCA events in 5 months and promises to be filled with exciting opportunities for growth, teamwork, and success both on and off the field for all our practice groups and student athletes.

In addition to the regular sports schedule, we have some big plans in the pipeline. Our team is working hard to organize special weekend events designed to build and support our wonderful community, and we look forward to counting on the presence of all to support these initiatives.

We encourage you to stay tuned for updates on these upcoming events and thank you in advance for all the support you will give to the program. Your enthusiasm and participation make our school community vibrant and united, and we can't wait to share these memorable moments with you.

Let's make this semester a fantastic one for ANS Athletics! Here's to teamwork, sportsmanship, and a season full of achievements.

ATHLETICS STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

Sebastián Argüello

ANS is privileged to count upon so many exceptional young athletes within our program and we love to celebrate their success. We also have a number of talented performers who participate with great success outside of school in activities not included in our program, and we are equally proud of their achievements.

Our first Athletics Student of the week is 7 year old Sebastian Arellano who is currently in 2nd grade A.

Just 6 months ago he started participating in the national Nicaraguan Motocross Federation (FNC) and he competes on a 50cc bike, and also started competing in 50cc ATV (all terrain vehicle) 4 wheel drive.

Sebastian is dedicated and enthusiastic about continuing in this sport and recently got 4th place in the general classification on 50cc bike, and third place in 50cc ATV.

With discipline and dedication he has achieved so much in such a short period of time and we wish him the best in the 2024 season.

MOTIVATION

Here's to a year of better habits, positive thinking, clean living, and loving yourself!

Did you Know?

PE at ANS

Physical education (PE) at ANS is underway and plays a crucial role in the holistic development of children, extending beyond mere sports and games. Embracing a standards-based approach to PE ensures that children not only engage in physical activities but also acquire a diverse set of abilities that will serve them well throughout their lives. This holistic perspective on physical education emphasizes lifelong skills, contributing to the overall well-being of individuals as they navigate the challenges of adulthood.

Diverse Skill Development

Standards-based physical education goes beyond traditional sports, focusing on the development of a wide array of physical and cognitive skills. Students learn fundamental movement patterns, spatial awareness, and coordination, laying the foundation for a lifetime of physical competence. These skills are not only applicable in organized sports but also in everyday activities, fostering a more active and capable lifestyle.

Health and Fitness Literacy

A standards-based approach to physical education emphasizes health and fitness literacy. Children learn about the importance of regular exercise, proper nutrition, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This knowledge equips them with the tools to make informed decisions about their well-being, instilling habits that can contribute to a healthier and more fulfilling life in the long run.

Teamwork and Cooperation

While traditional sports often teach teamwork, standards-based physical education extends this principle to various cooperative activities and challenges. Students learn how to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and problem-solve in a group setting. These skills are essential not only in sports but also in the professional world, fostering the development of effective team players and leaders.

Cognitive Skills Enhancement

Beyond physical prowess, standards-based physical education enhances cognitive skills such as concentration, decision-making, and problem-solving. Activities that require strategic thinking and planning contribute to the development of a well-rounded individual who can navigate challenges and make informed choices throughout their life.

Lifelong Appreciation for Physical Activity

By exposing children to a diverse range of physical activities and movement patterns, standards-based physical education aims to cultivate a lifelong appreciation for staying active. When students find joy in movement beyond the confines of traditional sports, they are more likely to maintain an active lifestyle, reducing the risk of sedentary behavior and associated health issues in adulthood.

Standards-based physical education is a valuable investment in the future well-being of our children. By focusing on a comprehensive set of skills and knowledge, it equips them to face the challenges of adulthood with confidence and resilience. Beyond the confines of sports, these lifelong benefits contribute to the development of healthy, active, and capable individuals who are prepared to lead fulfilling lives.
