Last Day of After School Sports

As our regular after school practice program ends for another year this week, we would like to thank all those who have formed part of our sports family for a superb season of sports

Throughout the year, our students have embraced the benefits of participating in extracurricular sports and from the youngest kindergarteners to the seniors in high school, they've experienced the joys of active living, regular exercise, and the thrill of team sports and competition.

Not only did our teams secure numerous championships and cups across various sports and age groups (with several secondary teams still finishing up their events), but more importantly, they forged lasting bonds and friendships while proudly representing our school.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the coaches, parents, and, of course, our dedicated student athletes for making this season a resounding success. Your unwavering support and commitment have been instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence within our athletic community.

As we bring this season to a close, we eagerly anticipate the excitement and challenges that the next season will bring. Be on the lookout for information from the Athletic Department regarding participation for the 2024-2025 season, coming your way in early July.

PE Uniform Policies for 2024-25

In preparation for the new school year we want to take this opportunity to inform families of acceptable attire for PE classes for 2024/25.

As you may know, ANS introduced new designs for PE uniforms several years ago and beginning in August, the design seen in these images will be the only one that should be worn for school, with the prior design no longer official ANS uniform.

There is a large stock of the design seen here available for purchase in the Tiger Store for those who do not yet have them, and we strongly encourage all to ensure their child is correctly dressed for the new school year.

This uniform is to be used for all of primary school daily, and for middle and high school Health & Fitness classes.

We thank you in advance for your compliance with this change which will allow us to strengthen our school spirit with a singular vision across our PE programs.

MOTIVATION

A trophy carries dust, memories last forever.

Annual Athletic Awards

This week we celebrated our traditional  Middle and High School Athletic Awards ceremony designed to highlight and celebrate the very best of ANS sports at the secondary level.

We recognized excellence in a range of categories from the best individual players across the activities we offer on both Boys and Girls and for Middle and High School, along with team of the year awards for each division, and recognitions for exemplary participation in Health & Fitness classes, and Flex Day offerings hosted by the Athletic Department.

We also celebrated students who participate in sports in the elite category outside of ANS, recognized outstanding leadership with our varsity captain of the year award, and got to applaud and hear from the “Michele Richardson Award” winners (given to the outstanding athletes, male and female, of the graduating class).

We are thankful to each student who had their exemplary participation in our program recognized, and thank them and their families for joining us at the awards.

#ShoutOuts

We are beyond thrilled to announce that both our boys' and girls' Varsity soccer teams have triumphed in their semi-finals of the Copa UAM!

Our girls' team absolutely dominated their game, winning 9-0 against CCA. The boys followed with a stellar performance, securing a 4-0 victory against Bautista Managua.

Now, we are headed to the finals to be held at UAM this Monday!

Our Tigers are rocking it in chess!

Luciana, 2nd grade, won the gold medal at the National Chess Championship in the U10, Female category And Angela Moreno, 1st grade, also won the gold medal in the U8 category this past weekend.

Now, Luciana and Angela are going to represent Nicaragua in a Central American and Caribbean tournament in El Salvador during the first week of August.

Their passion and determination are truly inspiring! We can’t wait to see them shine in their next tournament.

What's coming up,
What's gone on

Middle school finally got their “Field Day”, a much anticipated event that saw 6th,7th and 8th graders participate in a range of fun activities designed to promote teamwork, collaboration and leadership.  Highlights were our two “assault courses” which involved carrying a 20lb ball across a range of obstacles with water hazards all along the way.  ANS field days across the grade levels are fun, fast paced and challenging affairs and yesterday’s event was no different. A great time was had by all involved.

Despite sports being officially over for another year, we have several teams who will carry on competing throughout the vacations.  We wish our very best to our Track & Field team who will be participating in the National School Games, our Boys Varsity Basketball team who will play in the 8vos of the “Copa Parque Luis Alfonso”, our Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer teams who finish their season next Monday, both playing to be crowned champions of the “Copa Colegial UAM-Totto”, and our U16 Girls Soccer team who will play semi finals of “Copa Fuente Pura” this saturday, before a possible final to be held on the 8th of June.

In July our varsity teams across the sports will be on campus for their traditional “pre-season”, designed to give them the very best chance for success in the new school year.
