The highly anticipated event unfolded on Saturday, November 18th, providing a platform for young talents from across the country to demonstrate their strategic acumen.
ANS, known for its commitment to academic excellence and extracurricular achievements, made a significant mark in the tournament. The school's chess enthusiasts, with their strategic brilliance and competitive spirit, navigated the challenging matches, leaving a lasting impression on participants and spectators alike.
Gratitude Feast
Primary School students enthusiastically participated in our Second annual Gratitude Feast, a heartwarming event organized by our school leadership in collaboration with our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). The primary aim of this gathering was to foster a sense of community and appreciation among our Secondary School students and their buddies in Primary School.
Gratitude Feast served as a platform for students from different levels to come together and celebrate the spirit of friendship and gratitude. This event was not just a mere occasion but a thoughtful initiative to strengthen the bonds within our school community.
"El Mundialito" Fosters Team Spirit and Collaboration at ANS Elementary Soccer Tournament
The American Nicaraguan School's elementary students showcased their soccer prowess in a thrilling event called "El Mundialito." Held during recess, this tournament had a clear objective: to encourage a more cooperative approach among the students.
The event was not just about scoring goals; it was a celebration of teamwork, playful engagement, and emotional intelligence on the soccer field. Students had the opportunity to navigate the various emotions that arise during a match while emphasizing the importance of collaboration over rivalry.
"El Mundialito'' created a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere where students learned the value of working together towards a common goal. The emphasis on sharing with their teammates highlighted the significance of camaraderie, making the tournament more than just a soccer competition.
As the final whistle blew, it was evident that the event had succeeded in promoting not only athletic skills but also essential life skills. The elementary school's soccer tournament became a memorable occasion, reinforcing the spirit of teamwork and collaboration among the young athletes of ANS.

MAP Testing
With a strong start to the academic year, we are now culminating the first trimester of learning. Over the next two weeks, third - ninth graders will take the MAP Reading and Math tests. This is our Middle of the Year (MOY) test window. The testing schedule is outlined below. Primary students will take the MAP test in the computer labs, with their teachers, during class time. Secondary students will take the MAP test on iPads during their Community Values classes (6th & 7th Graders) or during the College & Career Advancement sessions during Flex Day (8th & 9th Graders).
The MAP tests are directly aligned to our Mathematics and Reading curricula. The data that we gather helps us monitor both school wide achievement levels and individual student performance data. After testing, parents will receive notification once the MAP scores and full report are accessible in their child(ren)’s e-locker on the Parent PlusPortal. Students will review their progress on goals, in conferences with their teacher(s).
MAP testing gives teachers, support staff, students and parents an opportunity to check in on progress made this school year. It allows us to partner with students to reflect on their progress so far, and to revise goals set for ongoing growth. The MAP test is an adaptive, computer-generated test, meaning it adapts each question to the appropriate level of your child’s learning, which helps students maintain a positive attitude toward testing.
At ANS, we use MAP test performance as one of a wide variety of assessment data. The best preparation for improved performance on MAP is commitment to one’s learning journey and ongoing improvement in formative assessment. To become more familiar with the testing format and style of questioning, please note these two resources: NWEA Student Resources and the Khan Academy Mappers site.
Your child(ren)’s attendance and punctuality is essential to the efficient administration of these tests. Like all school days, your child(ren)’s presence is invaluable in their educational journey. As always, please make sure your child(ren) has a good night’s sleep, eats a healthy breakfast and arrives to school on time. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
ANS Leadership Team
