Your Athletic Department Leadership Team

At ANS we are privileged to have an Athletic program that is diverse, dynamic and innovative, and that is staffed by professional teachers, coaches and administration staff.

The oversight of our Athletic department is handled by three people with a wealth of experience both locally and internationally, and who ensure that the sporting needs of our students, whatever their age, are attended to.

What are the roles that each of them carries out for our community?

David Faulkner

David is the Athletic Director and his role is general oversight of all things related to sports and Physical Education.  This includes the design and implementation of a department vision and mission, to define and create policy that supports this, planning & development of programs, and evaluations and next steps.

Andrei Kulyk

Kulyk is our Player Development and Compliance Coordinator' and his role has to do with ensuring that all secondary age student athletes are eligible to participate in sports, and that they are complying with all of the obligations related to this.  As part of this role he also coordinates ASSCA trips and works to connect our most outstanding athletes with universities or other organizations where they can continue their sporting careers after graduation.

He combines this role with serving as our Head Coach in Swimming and supervising everything that takes place in the pool,  to ensure that our robust swimming program continues to be a source of such pride to the school.

Sandro Ortiz

Sandro serves as our Extra Curricular and Varsity Sports Coordinator, meaning he oversees all things related to after school sports for our students.  He works directly with our coaches to ensure that everyone is receiving the best age appropriate training sessions, imparted by the very best people, along with the oversight of our teams in every sport and age group, and their participation in games and competitions.

Joy Castro

These three are ably assisted by Joy Castro who provides secretarial support, managing databases for every facet of our program and ensuring everyone is where they need to be, and liaising with all other school departments and divisions to ensure the smooth running of our programs.

We feel very pleased to count on these staff members who work tirelessly to provide programs the school can be proud of.

ATHLETICS STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Jorge González

Middle schooler Jorge is a dedicated student and athlete, who spent the summer refining his Tae Kwon Do skills and was able to successfully pass the exam for his Black Belt, Second Dan!

Jorge is waiting for his official certificate to arrive from Korea and we are sure that when it does, it will be an amazing moment for him and his family.

Congratulations Jorge, on this fantastic achievement. Your discipline and sacrifice is an example to all of us!

MOTIVATION

Hard work beats talent,
when talent doesn't work hard!

Did you Know?

Leading An Athletic Program

When an Athletic program adopts and interprets a set vision, they can channel and focus their time and energy on taking the department forward.

Proper and clear guidelines aligned with a vision allow everyone involved with that program to know where they stand and what is required of them. They inspire everyone to be better and make it more obvious what type of administrator, coach, athlete and parent is required to achieve success.

When a set vision becomes an integral part of school athletics, the department will continue to function and be consistent even if there are internal changes related to leadership, replacement of staff and coaches, etc. Adversities can be handled smoothly and the department can continue to grow stronger and be more efficient.
