Soccer Tournament

AASCA Soccer is finally here!

Next week our delegation of almost 100 members of the ANS community will make their way to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, for three intense days of competition versus our rival schools from the region.

Both our boys and girls teams are finishing up their carefully prepared practice schedules, treatments and tactical and motivational sessions so as to be in the best possible condition for the tournament.

Players carrying slight knocks and injuries are working with specialist physios, contracts regarding expectations have been signed, AASCA uniform and gear packages have been given out, and autograph and photograph sessions will happen in the following days.

This Saturday we will give our teams a huge send-off as only ANS knows how, with our Tiger Fun Day and we are excited to have everyone who is able join us for this fun and dynamic event.

Keep an eye on our ANS social media pages beginning next Thursday for updates on results and links to watch AASCA Soccer 2024 games live!!

ATHLETICS STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

Emilio Farach & Lucianna González

Senior Emilio and Junior Lucianna are our team captains for AASCA soccer, and whilst their leadership styles are quite different, they are both exceptional in their roles both on and off the field.

Varsity team captains at ANS are an extension of their coaches and a link between the “cuerpo tecnico” and the players. Their role also requires them to help with logistical concerns relating to their team and for an AASCA event, to arrange all aspects relating to uniforms and player packs, including the sponsorship of these items.

For their compliance in all of the above plus much more, we want to recognize Emilio and Lucianna and wish them all success at AASCA next week. We hope your hard work is rewarded by getting to lift those championship trophies!

MOTIVATION

Small disciplines repeated with consistency,
lead to great achievements.

Did you Know?

AASCA Training

ANS varsity athletes have at their disposal specialists in physical preparation who prepare detailed plans and sessions designed to have our players arrive at the first day of their tournaments in prime physical condition.

The plan for the upcoming AASCA soccer tournament began in earnest around 6 weeks before the competition begins, and has micro plans of 1-week increments built into it.

A weekly “micro cycle” can vary greatly depending on what “phase” the players are in. One week may see extreme load with competition and games thrown in to help our players get used to an ASSCA where they will play multiple games in 72 hours, whilst the next week will see them do more recuperative work to allow their bodies to recover and adjust.

The workload is dramatically increased from week 3 onwards, allowing players to reach their “top” in week 5, and then to maintain this from that point on, before a slight “drop off” in the days before the event (but still ensuring their recuperative powers are as they were at the highest point of the plan), taking into account the increased workload of the actual competition.

This is customary preparation for all professional sports teams and something we have introduced to give our Tigers the best possible chances for success for their tournament.
