AGENDA

Talent

Our ANS athletics department is proud of the professional grade classes we hold and the variety of options available to our students.

We have sports teams across the disciplines and age groups that are amongst the best in the country and are so proud of our student athletes for their discipline and sacrifice.

We are also privileged to count among our numbers exceptional young people who compete away from school, often at an International standard, bringing a host of medals and titles back to ANS.

This week we want to acknowledge and celebrate these incredible young people, and particularly those mentioned below who have recent or upcoming competitions.

MOTIVATION

Motivation is what gets you started,
dedication is what keeps you going.

Student Athletes

Student Athletes and their families know that adding sports into their schedule means having supreme levels of sacrifice and organization.

The balance between studies, sports and all other life commitments is a tough one to manage.  Athletes must  have a clear schedule that allocates enough time for all the important activities, but also leaves enough time for other things like self-care and free time for themselves.

Every athlete mentioned below has been able to find this balance, keep up with their obligations as students, and still achieve outstanding things in their chosen discipline.

What's coming up,
What's going on

Verónica Navarrete from 11th grade is a soccer player with UNAN Managua in the 1st division of the women's game, and has received a historical call up to the FULL women's national Team for their upcoming training cycles.  Veronica has represented Nicaragua throughout the age levels and is a former U15 Central American champion, and a valuable member of the U17 and U20 National teams.  Her selection at such a young age to form part of the “seleccion mayor” is an incredible achievement!

Noel Sacasa, a senior with the class of 2024, is a member of the Nicaraguan National Fencing Team and achieved the top ranking for Nicaragua at the recently held 2023 Juegos Centroamericanos.  Noel’s dedication to his sport and the success he is having is truly inspiring, and we congratulate him for all he is achieving.

Gymnastics

Six outstanding ANS primary students were selected by the National Gymnastics Federation to represent Nicaragua in the Central American Gymnastics Age Groups Championship. The championship will follow the US Gymnastics Regulations for Age Groups, and competition will be fierce to determine the very best gymnasts in Central America.

We wish all success to our gymnasts and their coaches, and invite the Community to come and cheer them on anytime from 10AM-5PM, Thursday through Sunday (September 7-10).

Our young Gymnasts have displayed their full potential in the Central American Gymnastics Championship today!

Marcela Ríos and Emilia Báez have won Level 1 Championship in their Age Groups and Antonella Hernández and Valentina Martínez won second place in their Age Groups representing Nicaragua.

ANS had students participating in last week’s Nicaraguan Swimming National Championship, organized by the National Federation at the Michele Richardson complex’s short (25-meter) pool:

The following students enjoyed medal winning performances at this event:

Every swimmer who participated significantly improved their personal best times and we are excited to see the swim program continue to shine!

Tomás Sánchez is another outstanding ANS athlete and has recently returned from representing Honduras in the Central American U-13 Table Tennis Championships where he excelled versus his rivals from the region, winning a Bronze medal in the ‘teams’ competition and a silver in ‘doubles’.  Next up is the ‘Panamericano Championship’ and Tommy is working hard to prepare for this next challenge.
