Initial thoughts are that there is widespread minor damage, but I see no reason to be considering mobilizing a ground assessment. I will continue to monitor and update you if I find any reason to change that.

Today, February 22, 2019, several telluric movements were recorded in the continental territory. The first occurred at 5h17TL and reached an Mw magnitude of 7.6 and was located 50 km east of the Taisha community. Three minutes later (5h20 TL) a replica of magnitude Mlv 6.1 was recorded. Both events occurred in the subduction oceanic plate that in this zone is at a depth of about 140 km. There are reports that earthquakes were felt throughout the country. For these events, no reports of serious damage or human victims have been received.
Subsequently, at 5h40 (TL) a third event of magnitude Mlv 5.9 was recorded; the epicenter of this event was located south-west of Guayaquil, 20 km from this city. After reviewing the available information, the depth was determined in around 70 km. For this event, the reports indicate that the quake was felt in the provinces of Guayas, Pichincha, Chimborazo, Tungurahua, Manabí, among others, without any significant damage being reported. 14 minutes after this event, that is, 6h08 (TL) a replica of Mlv 3.1 occurred.

The National Risk and Emergency Management Service is coordinating with the response entities and sectional governments through their respective COE.
At the moment, no international assistance is required.
