Unit Plan:
This unit explores the foundations of oceanography. Students will learn the locations of oceans and seas and the terminology associated with ocean and coastline features. A historical framework for the study of oceanography will be established, highlighting major advancements and discoveries that have made oceanography an essential field of modern science.They will also investigate the composition and movement of water through the hydrosphere and atmosphere. The unit will conclude with a discussion of currently accepted hypotheses for how the oceans formed and have changed through earth's history.
