What is Dropbox?

Dropbox is a cloud based application that allows you to store files. Currently, it is free to use a small amount of storage. This can be really useful if you don’t have a flash drive with you when you need to save a file or if you need to share a file.

Directions

Creating a Dropbox Account

1. Go to Dropbox and create an account

· Username: Create a username that is easy for you to remember. Don’t ever use your real name as part of a username.

· Password: Create a powerful password that is easy for you to remember.

2. Create a new folder (click on the new folder icon on the top right of the page) and name it “Your Name & Last Initial-School”

Sharing a Dropbox Folder

1. On the top right, click on the share a folder icon (the folder with a window)

2. Follow the instructions to verify your account

3. Select I'd Like To Share an Existing Folder

4. Click Next

5. Click on the folder you would like to share with me (your school folder)

6. Click Next

7. Add Mrs. Maurus’ email to the Add Collaborators to This Folder.

Accessing Your Username Login & Password Worksheet Online

1. Go to Mrs. Maurus’ Website

· Locate the Username and Password Login Sheet underneath your grade level lessons on the left sidebar.

· Click on the red arrow to download the file.

· Click on Open

· When the document opens, type Dropbox under the next blank space underneath Website Name. Then type in your Dropbox user name and password so that you never forget them.

· Select Save As and save this file to you My Documents folder as Username Login Sheet.

Saving a File to Your Dropbox

1. Open up and log into your Dropbox account

· Click on your School folder

· Once in your School folder click on the Upload folder icon (top right) and locate your Username Login Sheet in you’re My Documents Folder.

Now you will be able to access your Username & Password Login Sheet from any computer, phone, iPod, iPad, or any device that has internet access.
