Objectives

· Students will be able to create an interactive poster using Glogster

Introduction

In this assignment, you will take some time to think and create an interactive poster about a VERY special and EXTREMELY important person... YOU :)

Instructions

Use Glogster to create an interactive poster about yourself. Include in your poster the information listed below along with any other information that you would like others to know. Be original and creative!

Hyperlinks: This is where the Interactive part comes in. A Hyperlink is a word, group of words or image that you can click on to jump to another document or image. The Hyperlink symbol in Glogster (and in most applications) looks like a chain, similar to the image below.

Step 1: Creating a Glog

Go to Glogster. If you already have a Glogster account please log in. If you do not have a Glogster account, follow the directions below.

Before you begin creating your Interactive Glog Poster you MUST register for a new account for Glogster. To do this go to Creating A Glog

Once you are logged into your account:

1. Click on Create New Glog and select the Glog Format you want to begin creating your Glog

2.Click on Wall to create an eye appealing background for your Glog

3.Click on the Text button, choose the text box you like the best and type your answers to each of the requirements below into each text box.

**You will need to edit your text (size, font, style, etc.) to make it fit.

4. Images and/or Graphics: Decorate your Glog with graphics by clicking on Graphics. You may also add images by clicking on Upload and uploading the images you saved to your computer.

5. Reformat your graphics and/or images to add creativity to your Glog.

6. When your Glog is complete click on Save or Publish to publish your Glog.

(Make sure you give your Glog a title)

Information That Should Be Included In Your Interactive Glog Poster

Each of the requirements below MUST be hyperlinked to another glog, website, video, and/or image in some way. For example, you can use a text box to create My Favorite Movie and hyperlink it to information about your favorite movie on IMDB.com so that when you click on the text box, you are automatically directed to information about your favorite movie on IMDB.com OR for your Favorite Song, you could have this hyperlinked to a website displaying the lyrics to your favorite song or to a YouTube video of your favorite song. You will have a total of 10 hyperlinks.

Items to be included in your poster:

***Just FYI... Using Cool Text is a great way to add PIZZAZZ to your Glog!!!

_____ Avatar that you created for your portfolio, a photo of yourself or an image of something that represents you (you do not have to create a hyperlink for this).

_____ Favorite Sport/Activity/Book/Hobby

_____ What do you like to do in your spare time?

_____ Favorite school subject(s)

_____ What do you want to be when you grow up?

_____ One goal that you have for this school year/quarter/life

_____ Graphic and/or Images added to your poster to make it stand out and look creative.

Sharing Your Glog

When your Glog is complete:

  • Click Save

  • Give your Glog a title and make sure Public (in lower left corner) is selected and then click Finish Saving

  • Click Preview and then copy your Glog's URL

  • Log into your Gmail Account

  • Click on Compose Mail (on the left side)

  • In the To box type in my email address: maurusja@dhsd7.net

  • In the Subject box type Glog

  • Paste your Glog's URL into the body of your email (CTRL +V)

  • Click Send

Linking Your Glog to Your Electronic Portfolio

  • After you copy the URL to your Glog:

  • Log into your Electronic Portfolio.

  • Click on the Honeycomb (More Actions) button (top right) and select Edit Site Layout

  • Click on the word Navigation on your Sidebar on the left side of your website

  • Select Add URL

  • Text to Display: Interactive Poster URL or Email: Paste the URL to your Glog

  • Click on the box to Open This Link in a New Window.

  • Click OK, OK, Close (upper right corner in Blue Box)
