Introduction
Students will be introduced to internet safety. To do this I will do the following:
We will view Faux Paw the Techno Cat video
Students will then be introduced to NetSmartz.org. Using this site, we will view a couple of the internet safety videos and discuss the importance of “safely” using the internet and how to safely surf the net.
Students will then be allowed to explore Netsmartz.org. While exploring this website, they will be required to take note of a minimum of 10 internet safety rules.
Assignment
Step 1
Open up a new Microsoft Word document and number it 1-10
Take some time to explore NetSmartz.org (play games, watch videos, etc). You should explore both the Kids and Tweens sections.
While you are exploring NetSmartz you will need to infer (or figure out) the internet safety rule that each video and or game is trying to teach you about.
When you figure out a safety rule, you will need to type the rule out in your Microsoft Word document.
You will need to explore and discover a total of 10 rules.
Once you find all 10 rules, save your Word document as Internet Safety Rules into your My Documents folder.
