Empire Building

During the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Western powers divided Africa and colonize larger areas of Asia.

Power and Authority

At the Berlin Conference in 1884 - 1885, European nations establish rules for the division of Africa with little concern about how their actions would affect the African people.

Economics

Industrialization increase the need for raw materials and new markets. Western imperialist were driven by the need as they looked for colonies to acquire.
