The store originally opened as a Home Quarters Warehouse also known as HQ on April 2nd 1992. This was one of the 2 HQ stores in New Hampshire with the other store in Newington NH, which opened around the same time. In September 1999 the 2 HQ stores closed after the company's bankruptcy. Later on that year in December, Walmart would buy the 2 HQ stores in New Hampshire and convert them both into Walmart supercenters. Both Walmarts looked almost identical except for different layouts. The store would open on March 14th, 2001. Sometime in 2009, Walmart would get a new exterior paint job switching the blue and white paint for tan and light brown. Walmart would close on April 18th, 2016, and move to a newly built supercenter down the road. The vacant store would later be sold to Carmax in March 2017 and would be demolished a CarMax dealership, which later opened on that land later that year.
