The plaza opened with a J.M.Fields on November 4th 1970. A J.M.Fields discount quality foods opened in late November 1970, adjacent to J.M.Fields. J.M.Fields closed in late-spring 1979. J.M.Fields quality discount foods later closed on September 8th 1979. J.M.Fields closing initially did not affect the food store but shortly after its main anchor closed they decided to close. In July 1979, Bradlees bought the former J.M.Fields store, and in Summer 1979 started construction on their new store. On april 17th 1980, Bradlees Department store opened. In early 1982 construction on a new separate part of the plaza started on the land in front of Bradlees. On November 27th 1982, Market Basket opened as the anchor of the plaza addition. Medi Mart pharmacy opened next to the Market Basket on November 15th 1982, this was the only location in the state of New Hampshire. Perfecta camera opened in the Market Basket plaza the mid 1980s. In late April 1985, JCPenny opened in the empty former grocer next to Bradlees. In the summer of 1986, Medi Mart was sold to Walgreens and was later converted to one in early fall 1986. In mid-1990, JCPenny closed and moved to the new Steeplegate Mall. From June 14th to June 30th 1991 L.L.Bean temporarily opened in the former JCPenny to sell unsold and discontinued merchandise. The space next to Bradlees was never filled after L.L.Bean. On January 14th 1995, Walgreens closed. In fall 1995 the Market Basket Plaza would receive a renovation including Market Basket expanding 12,000 feet into the former Walgreens and doing a full remodel. Ritz Camera took over Perfecta Camera in fall 1997. In late spring 2000, Dollar Tree would open in the remaining Walgreens space. In early February 2001, Bradlees closed. Ritz Camera closed in the mid-2000s. In spring 2006, demolition on Bradlees was put into effect after the land was bought by Lowe's Home Improvement. On Febuary 2nd 2007, Lowe's Home Improvement opened. Movie Gallery closed in 2010. Donovan Party Supply opened in the former Movie Gallery in 2011 .Cardsmart closed in the early 2010s. Radio Shack closed in April 2017, and was later replaced by a nail salon. Donovan party supplies closed in 2019. Dollar Tree closed in 2020. In August 2022 the NH liquor store moved out of the plaza. On June 22 2023, Crumbl cookie opened in a former dry cleaner.
